carte-postale.jpg (18013 octets)Maison de la Reine is a classic half timbered house once belonging to Marguerite de Bourgogne, Comptess de Tonnerre, Queen of Sicily, Naples and Jerusalem. It is situated in the wine growing village of Ligny-le-Châtel, 9 kms from the world famous wine center of Chablis. It dates from the twelfth century and has seen restoration over the centuries. The large wine cellar, which runs the length of the house is original to the earliest period and it regularly hosts wine tastings.

 

statue.jpg (10476 octets)The accomodation consists of a modern fully equipped fitted kitchen, a dining room seating twelve and a large comfortable drawing room / lounge with oak parquet flooring,  equipped with TV/DVD and stereo music system. There is also an open fire place for that cosy warm feeling.

The house sleeps twelve, three double and three twin bedrooms each with private facilities.
The general decor is of exposed beams, high ceilings and a tasteful mixture of modern and antique furnishing.

Steps lead from the kitchen to a flower garden  equipped with  furniture and barbecue for al fresco eating. A bridge leads from the garden, over the mill race to a private walled park.
At the front of the house, there is spacious garage parking for several cars.


The village has all amenities including baker, butcher, post office, hairdresser, supermarket and three restaurants all within walking distance.
